Poor Temple!
This was right after the steering broke or the battery blew up or the engine went kerplooey.
On the bright side, Temple was awarded Notable Performance by a Rookie Team, and they finished in the top 15.*
Navy did NOT get the perseverance award--Navy got best teamwork, which is actually appropriate since members of the Navy team actually went underwater to lift the sinking boat out of the lake. Mike said that it took about an hour to get the boat up and when they finally got it up, the bilge pump was still running. Do you understand how funny that is? A bilge pump. Running. On a submerged boat. Talk about shitting up river. Points, I suppose, for that.
In weekend news, my chest is sunburnt. And I made paper.
* - There were only two rookie teams, and the other team got best rookie team. And, by the time the total event ended, there were only 15 teams.
